New Saudi Arabia Mecca Tower, World’s Biggest Clocks – Count Down Started (Clocks and tower building built by Osama Bin Laden’s family’s Saudi Binladin Group)
The world’s biggest clock has now started working in The Abraj Al-Bait Towers, also known as the Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower. The recently constructed building itself is one the tallest and biggest buildings of the world. The clocks are stationed in at almost the very top of the 601Â metres (1,972 feet) tall world’s second tallest building.
The face of the largest clock in the world. The clock face measures 43 × 43 m (141 × 141 ft). There are four like this facing the four directions in the Saudi Arabia, Mecca Royal tower building.
These four huge clocks started working from 1st of Muslim Ramadan fasting month of 2011.
In the above photo you see the Mecca Royal Clock tower building with one of the huge Mecca clocks at the top. This is how the clock looks when Muslim pilgrims and worshippers look at it from within the Mecca grand Haram Sheriff Mosque.
The black box like structure in the courtyard of the mosque is what is known as the Holy Kabah. It is the holiest place on earth according to Muslims and they face towards it while in prayers wherever are in the world. Recent increases in millions of people flocking to Mecca to pray near this Holy Kabbah at times like during Haj Festival, prompted Saudi Arabian authorities to construct this monstrous hotel building to accommodate the Muslim Pilgrims. Pilgrims in the Royal Clock Tower hotel will not only face towards the Holy Kabah but also will be able to see it without entering the Mecca mosque premises.
